This is an annual event usually done with the Xmas party. The contestants can only come from SS2 and SS1 classes, but usually the crowned queen must come from SS2 class. The SS1 students are allowed to contest so that they can be exposed to the pageantry to enable them perform better when they are in SS2.
In the contest, only contestants from SS2 can win. This is to ensure that a student will be a queen only once during her stays at HHCJ Assumpta Girls Model Secondary School Owerri.
Students who signalled interest in the pageantry are screened. Successful candidates (usually all the students that applied) are prepared for the event. The training session encompasses speech making, cat-walking and other academic and socio-cultural training.
On the day of the contest, the contestants appear on three attires; casual, traditional and corporate wear. They are judged based on their dressing, beauty, speech making and cat-walk.
At the end of the contest three contestants are rewarded. They are the winner (Assumpta Queen), First runner up and Second runner up. The outgoing queen crowns the new queen.
